Fipto brings regulated euro and dollar stablecoin settlement to European acquirers

DIMOCO, an Austrian licensed payment institution and principal member of Visa and Mastercard, is live with stablecoin settlement for merchants, built on Fipto’s MiCA-regulated infrastructure.

Fipto, the modern infrastructure for B2B payments and treasury powered by stablecoins, today announced that DIMOCO, an Austrian licensed payment institution and principal member of Visa and Mastercard, is settling merchants in euro and US dollar stablecoins on Fipto’s regulated infrastructure. The service is live.

Key facts

  • DIMOCO merchants can now receive settlement in euro and US dollar stablecoins. The service is live.
  • DIMOCO is an Austrian licensed payment institution, an acquirer and a principal member of Visa and Mastercard.
  • Fipto provides the stablecoin infrastructure, wallet operations and fiat connectivity beneath DIMOCO’s existing settlement flow.
  • Fipto holds a Payment Institution licence with the ACPR and a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider licence with the AMF, both in France.
  • The checkout experience is unchanged. Customers continue to pay using the methods they already know, in their local currency.

Settlement that stays inside the European regulatory perimeter

The arrangement operates entirely within the European regulatory perimeter. DIMOCO is supervised as a payment institution in Austria. Fipto holds both a Payment Institution licence with the ACPR and a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider licence with the AMF in France, and was the first European stablecoin payment institution to hold the two together. Merchants therefore receive settlement in euro stablecoins from counterparties authorised under European law.

What stablecoin settlement changes for merchants

For merchants, stablecoin settlement provides an alternative route to their funds that is not constrained by traditional banking hours or conventional settlement cycles. Funds can move across borders using blockchain infrastructure, giving merchants greater control over when and where they access and manage their money. The checkout experience is unchanged. Customers continue to pay using the methods they already know, in their local currency.

Why a licensed acquirer chose a regulated counterparty

“Licensed acquirers do not adopt new settlement infrastructure lightly. They require a counterparty that is supervised, that can be audited, and that fits the controls they already operate. Holding both a Payment Institution licence and a MiCA CASP licence allows us to operate the fiat side and the stablecoin side of a settlement flow under European supervision, rather than assembling the two across jurisdictions. That is what makes this workable for a regulated institution such as DIMOCO.” said Patrick Mollard, co-founder and CEO of Fipto
“Settlement infrastructure should not determine how quickly, where or even whether a business can operate. Stablecoin settlement gives merchants access to infrastructure that allows money to move faster while removing barriers that can limit how they operate and grow across markets.” said Clemens Leitner, Chief Executive Officer at DIMOCO

Stablecoin infrastructure for payment service providers and acquirers

Payment service providers and acquirers are a primary focus for Fipto. Rather than requiring an institution to build stablecoin capability itself, Fipto provides the regulated infrastructure, wallet operations and fiat connectivity beneath an existing settlement flow, accessible by API, web platform or treasury management system. The institution retains its merchant relationships and its commercial terms.

Settlement in euro and US dollar stablecoins is available to DIMOCO merchants now.
